🇷🇪️ SONORUN 2022

Departure at sea with a tripod for the seabed of Réunion

The operation in Reunion Island in November 2022 allowed the record of 32 sites of the outer reef slopes to establish a baseline of their soundscape. In parallel, stereo cameras fixed on the devices filmed fish assemblages on each site. These images allow us to identify better the acoustic signatures associated with the presence and abundance of these fishes, thus refining our monitoring indicators. Out of these 32 sites, 16 have been monitored by the Global Coral Reef Monitoring Network (GCRMN) and the Reserve Effect of the Natural Marine Reserve of Reunion Island. The results of our study have been compared to the results of these traditional programs, and highlighted new information managers could benefit from thanks to our solution.
